Andrew Barber

  • Joined VTS: 2009
  • Graduated from Douglas College Theatre Program in 2006
  • Favourite VTS role: ‘Walder Frey’ in Throne and Games. “I feel most comfortable playing an ultra-decrepit super-creep.”
  • Andrew has produced more than 50 video sketches which can be seen on his YouTube Channel.  Most notably, his sketch ‘Owen Wilson loves Vancouver’ and web series ‘A Boston Fan in Vancouver’ which gathered over 2 million views.
  • In 2014 he wrote and performed on the 22nd season finale of CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes
  • Favourite movie: The Dark Knight
  • He is a founding member/alumni of The Fictionals Comedy co
  • Favourite band: Pearl Jam. Future Islands. The War on Drugs. Faith No More.
  • Comic inspirations: “Musician Mike Patton (Faith No More, Tomahawk) has been the single greatest influence on my career. As a close second, Jim Carrey taught me the importance of making weird faces.”

ICI instructor bio:

Andrew graduated the Douglas College Theatre Program in 2006 and soon after transitioned into the world of improv and comedy. Since then he has created over 60 video sketches, hosted the CITY TV trivia show Beer Money, starred in several commercials and recently wrote and performed on the season finale of CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes. He has performed with Ryan Stiles, as well as with several different improv companies and at festivals throughout North America. He performs several shows a week with Vancouver TheatreSports.
