Anyone wishing to enter Canada requires a valid passport – this includes American citizens.

You do not need a work permit if…
- you’re a foreign artist or the artist’s key support staff (people vital to the performance),
- you will perform in Canada for a limited period of time,
- you’re not being hired for ongoing employment by the Canadian group that has contracted you
- you’re not involved in making a movie, television or radio broadcast.
Getting to Vancouver
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is 25 minutes by car to Granville Island. It is located on Sea Island in Richmond a suburb of Vancouver about 12 km (7.5 miles) from downtown Vancouver. It is the second busiest airport in Canada. YVR website.
Public Transportation to/from YVR
Canada Line – part of the Metro-wide Translink public transportation system – is a rapid transit line that runs from YVR to downtown Vancouver with several stops along the way. The closest stop to Granville Island is Olympic Village where you can transfer to a #50 bus that will take you to Granville Island. Pacific Central Station is a railway station located to the east of downtown Vancouver. It is about a 10 minute drive from the station to Granville Island. The station is the western terminus of Via Rail’s cross country passenger service from Toronto to Vancouver. It is also the northern terminus of Amtrak’s Cascades Line to/from Seattle and Portland in the United States.
