It’s a different world…I can’t count how many times I’ve written that, or some variation, over the last two months…but it is. With so many of us working exclusively from home, here at Vancouver TheatreSports we’ve have launched our Virtual Team Building Workshops to connect teams who are now only getting together online.
We’ve been designing team building sessions for our clients for over a decade, and while a handful of those experiences every year have been virtual team building workshops, the vast majority have taken place with everyone involved in the same physical space.
That’s changed, as starting in early March our clients began to transition to a largely remote working environment. With that as the new reality, there were a couple of approaches from team leaders. One, they wanted to continue with their team building plans on a somewhat regular schedule, as they would have if they were all flowing together daily in their work spaces…and two, the rapidly shifting landscape created an unfamiliar environment that team members recognized could be disruptive and unsettling for the group.

Hey, it’s often a difficult task to build a connected, supportive team that collaborates at a high level when everyone is in the same space every day. It’s even more important to focus on that connectivity and support for each other when a pandemic hits and we’re all isolated at home, logging in to see colleagues in a small square.
It’s easy for team members to feel disconnected when they don’t have the familiar patterns of office flow (impromptu interactions, casual meet-ups, scheduled meetings, ducking out for lunch with colleagues, etc.).
That’s where we come in.
(we also work with K-12 schools and colleges across North America, designing team building sessions – check out our Zoom Team Building Ideas for Your Class)
Our virtual team building workshops are designed specifically to bring your team together in a really unique, fun way, while focusing on themes that include effectively managing change, embracing the unpredictable, tips for being a highly supportive team in a virtual environment, and new ways to collaborate and communicate in the new setting.
All the sessions are custom designed to your group. We can drop-in on your next scheduled Zoom meeting (or whatever platform you use), or many clients are setting this up as a specific stand-alone team building experience.
And your group will have a blast!
