“Summertime and the livin is easy”
– Ella Fitzgerald
Vancouver, BC – Unlike our friends to the south notably Dad’s Garage who run Team Building in Atlanta, and Improv to Improve who run corporate workshops in Dallas, running a summer team building activity in Vancouver is rarely impacted by oppressive heat…so we can choose to set these sessions either indoors or outdoors.
And we do find a good number of our clients enjoy the opportunity to get the team into an outdoor setting. It can often add an extra element of fun, often going great when combined with a summer company party, BBQ, bocce ball (shout out to Laura and Jeff on their convincing Bocce-ball tournament victory in last year’ Vancouver TheatreSports summer team party).
However, the outdoor option for a fun team building activity usually slips away from us here in Vancouver around mid-October, when in Atlanta and Dallas they’re heading into a perfect setting to take the team outdoors for some team building.
Summer used to be a bit of a dead spot for corporate workshops (or corporate work of any kind for that matter), as everyone dialed back, falling into the summer-pace of managing holiday schedules and just keeping things moving along until Labour day weekend turned over.
But the last couple of years we’ve found summer has been busier for corporate events and workshops, and that’s not only the trend here in Vancouver, but with other improv organizations that offer team building workshops, corporate workshops, as well as corporate entertainment, including Dad’s and the team from Dallas, as well as SAK Comedy and their team building activities in Orlando, Florida.
We find summer can be a great time to get the team together. Whether it’s to re-set and re-focus on goals after looking at the results from Q1 and Q2, or specifically address development, whether that’s a session for your managers (i.e. how to be a more collaborative leader), or a session for your sales team that is packed with tips and techniques for sales success (strategies for increasing sales) or a fun reward for your team after working hard over the first half of the year…we can design a session for your team to inspire during the summer.
