We’ve had the opportunity to work with many of the innovative organizations that make-up the local tech sector here in BC, including throughout Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, the Okanagan and Vancouver Island.
Appnovation, one of those companies we’ve had the opportunity to work with, has been working on some pretty cool technology the last few weeks focused on ensuring health-care workers aren’t working at several long-term care facilities, which can obviously be dangerous when it comes to potentially spreading COVID-19.
Obviously the concern is particularly acute when it comes to our long-term care spaces around the province, as we’ve seen the disproportionate impact the virus has had in these facilities.
To try and control as many variables as possible, the province has made changes to restrict health-care staff from working at multiple long-term care facilities. The administration needed to facilitate and manage such a program is significant. That’s where Appnovation came in.
In our system, it’s common for health-care staff to work at multiple care homes, which brings with it the heightened risk of COVID-19 being transported from one facility to another. Appnovation was commissioned by the Ministry of Health to add transparency and an organized technological infrastructure to monitoring this new single-site staffing initiative.
The goal was to provide transparency for employers, eliminating staff overlaps into private facilities, overlaps between contractors and overlaps between other health authorities…resulting in better care and a safer environment for residents and staff.
