Off Leash, 2015

(Vancouver, BC) – You can’t begin to imagine the creativity, energy, and hilarity that ensues when a group of Improv actors come together to explore the outer reaches of their art – ‘to go where no Improv actor has gone before’ – creating daredevil performances of edgy, innovative comedy.  Coming July 1st, you won’t have to imagine it, you can experience it first-hand as Vancouver TheatreSports™ lets its performers ‘run free’ with Off-Leash – its newest late-night Improv show that will run every Wednesday and Thursday night at 9:15 p.m.

“Improv actors are like jazz musicians,” comments VTSL Executive Director Jay Ono. “One of them comes up with an idea on the spot and the others in the cast run with it, writing the ‘script’ as they go along. The results can be amazing.” Sometimes such comedic improvisations develop into something more substantial such as one of VTSL’s feature shows. Many of these come about as the result of the players riffing on an idea or structure that they introduced at one of the late night performances.

What can the audience expect at Off-Leash? “Expect the unexpected along with a lot of laughs,” says Artistic Director Denise Jones. “You never know what the players will do when there are no constraints to their imagination. No two shows or formats will be the same. If you see an Off Leash show one night, it will be an entirely different show the next night.”

Off-Leash runs every Wednesday and Thursday night at 9:15 p.m. starting July 1st at The Improv Centre, 1502 Duranleau Street, Granville Island. Tickets are priced at $10 (less than a movie) and can be purchased in advance on-line at or in-person at the Box Office (Wednesday through Sunday, after 6 p.m.).
