Presented over three consecutive Saturdays, this three day workshop features advanced Improv topics (see below).

Alistair Cook
Alistair has been performing, instructing, consulting, and directing improvisation for audiences across Canada the US and Europe. Alistair is currently the National Director, and President of our nation's improvisation tournament for young people, the Canadian Improv Games. Alistair is also the founder and Director of !nstant Theatre Co and one of the producers of the Vancouver International Improv Festival. Alistair is excited to be back with VTSL, the company that started him and many of his friends in improvisation.

Course Topics include:

Advanced Scene Work
Techniques for “finding the motor” of the scene, developing inter-character relationships, feeding offers, advanced staging, etc. Become more proficient at multi-character/person scenes.

Character Work
Learn how to play characters with more depth, while removing yourself from the character. Understand new ways of developing and creating characters, using various acting methodologies and techniques.

Narration & Story Telling
Understand the different styles of narration and types of stories. Advance your story-telling techniques (e.g.: epic/saga, heroes' journey, and human vs. nature). Stage painting: incorporate landscape, location, character, activity.

Gameology
Attain a wider knowledge of classic TheatreSports® games. Increase the risk using restriction, justification, and timed games. Understand that the story or scene comes before the game.

Styles & Genres
Understand the balance between form and content, utilizing TheatreSports® styles and genres.

Cancellation Policy:
  An administration fee of 15% of the workshop / course cost will be charged, upon cancellation if prior to two days before the workshop / course start date. No refunds will be given after this time.
