VTSL FIGHTS FIRE WITH LAUGHTER
The terrible fires in northern Alberta have given everyone a heavy heart. However, sometimes a little laughter can help ease the pain. Vancouver TheatreSports (VTSL) believes in giving back.
Next Wednesday (May 11) will be dedicated to raising funds for the Canadian Red Cross’ Alberta Fires Relief Fund. Net proceeds from the tickets sales to TheatreSports and Off Leash that night will be donated to the fund.
In addition, the cast will pass the hat at all 11 performances during the week (May 11 – 15) to raise additional cash. All funds generated will go to The Canadian Red Cross.
“VTSL feels it is an important thing to do,” says Executive Director Jay Ono. “People across the country have been horrified by this disaster and we all want to help. The mother of one of our cast members lives in Fort McMurray and she was evacuated this week. It is our hope that other arts companies will follow our lead and help support the fund as the Canadian Government has said it will match all donations.”
