The Spring Break Theatre Festival will run March
22nd -27th, 2011 and features the work of Vancouver’s finest
companies producing theatre for young audiences and their families.
The lively and bustling Granville Island will play host to shows
produced by Axis Theatre Company,
Carousel Theatre for Young People,
Green Thumb Theatre Company and the
Vancouver TheatreSports® League,
with most shows suitable for ages 5 and up and one as young as 3.

THE BIG SNEEZE by Tracey Power

Can your sneeze come to life? This is a hilarious, yet poignant
play about the grade school trials of Lizzy, the tallest girl in her
school. Being different is hard and Lizzy’s only wish is to be
invisible to her classmates – stay beneath the radar. It almost
works until one day she has the loudest, most gigantic sneeze ever
and out pops (in human form) her very own sneeze and Lizzy’s life
changes forever. Dealing with issues of self-esteem and peer
relationships, The Big Sneeze takes audiences on a journey of
self-discovery and acceptance.

500 WORDS by Jamie Norris
presented by Green Thumb Theatre

Sylvia, who is in grade 3, still has a hard time reading and to
make matters worse: her new grade 6 reading buddy, Lance is too busy
writing a story for the 500 Words Contest to help her. But when
Lance fears he was born without an imagination, Sylvia steps in and
helps him to dream up a world full of heroic knights, flying horses,
three eyed garrrrrgoyles and unbelievable adventures! 500 Words is a
story about friendship, storytelling, cooperation, learning to read
and, above all, finding your imagination! Lance and Sylvia may be an
unlikely pair but they soon learn that by working together, facing
their fears and discovering their own strengths, they can truly
create something magical.
